    1. Almost 2 1/2 based on my re-check this morning. Although there were a few tiny drops of drizzle still this morning, it appears that the storm has moved on. Still, a good start here! I hope you did well too - and that there was no damage out your way.

    1. We were lucky, Peter - we got slow, steady rain but none of the torrents that can cause havoc. Some areas to the east and north (SF area) apparently weren't so lucky. After such a long dry spell, I'm sure its hard for the ground to absorb the rain, especially if it comes down fast.

  3. Hopefully no mudslides had happened but apart from that hooray for the rain!!

    1. No mudslides here but areas to the east weren't as lucky, unfortunately. And San Francisco ended up with some serious sinkholes :( There's no more rain for us in the immediate forecast but Northern California still has some coming.

  4. Outlaw gardener took the words right out of my mouth -- hurray! Good to hear your area wasn't deluged.

    1. Thanks for your concern! San Francisco got much heavier rain than we did, as did the foothills to the east of us. An article in today's LA Times described this as a "sweetheart" of a storm for us because the rain was slow and steady enough to soak in without causing hills to slide (except in Malibu, which did have a problem in a former burn area).

  5. That last photo is so beautiful. What a delight when long sought after rain is delivered in such a reasonable way. I admire how the colors in your front bed echoes the trees across at your neighbors. Almost as if your plantings are a reflecting pond...

    1. The echo of the neighbor's trees is temporary - or perhaps I should say seasonal as I'll get a replay each year (assuming that my new plants survive).

  6. Your third image made me smile as I could imagine you smiling too! What a difference to your usual views.

    1. The rain total for this storm eventually came to almost 2.5 inches (6.35 cm), which is very good, especially when you consider the fact that we got only about 3.5 inches of rain in total for the entire season last year.
